QFINANCE named one of the top three most innovative media outlets at the 2010 State Street Institutional Press Awards

London - November 2010 - QFINANCE has been shortlisted in the prestigious ninth annual State Street Institutional Press Awards coming runner up in the ‘Most Innovative Media Outlet’ category. Testament to its top quality content and uniqueness, QFINANCE has been placed amongst the top three pioneering websites in the field of business and finance resources.

The State Street Institutional Press Awards recognise outstanding performance in institutional financial services reporting. The State Street Corporation is one of the world’s leading providers of financial services to institutional investors, and its awards event is renowned for the superiority of its judging panel and nominees.

Out of 119 entries, QFINANCE.com and journalist Anthony Harrington, who writes regular comment for the QFINANCE blog, were shortlisted in four out of eleven categories. Mr. Harrington’s exceptional work for QFINANCE was continually cited at the event. He was runner up in the following categories: Journalist of the Year – Pensions Issues – Trade; Journalist of the Year – Investment – Online/Wires; and Journalist of the Year – Investor Services & Technology – Trade.

Entries were judged by an independent panel of industry professionals including Charles Batchelor, a veteran financial journalist who now works freelance; Steve Delo, Chief Executive of PAN Governance LLP and former president of the Pensions Management Institute; Malcolm McLean, a consultant at Barnet Waddingham and former Chief Executive of the Pensions Advisory Service; Penny Green, Chief Executive of the Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London and former Deputy Chief Executive of the Pensions Advisory Service; and James Walsh, a Senior Policy Adviser at the National Association of Pension Funds, where he leads policy work on EU issues, regulation and simplification.

The journalists were honoured at a luncheon in London hosted by Kanesh Lakhani, Senior Managing Director at State Street Global Advisors.

“We would like to congratulate all the shortlisted journalists and winners,” said Lakhani. “Once again, the standard was extremely high and we believe the institutional media has played a vital role in covering, analysing and debating one of the most remarkable and unsettling economic periods in living memory.”
