Each week brings you five things to look out for in the week ahead. Essential news that will shape the week and help you keep ahead in the world of business and finance.

UK growth figures: Fourth-quarter growth figures for the UK are expected on Tuesday this week, with economists predicting growth of 0.7% - making overall annual growth the fastest the country has seen since 2007.

Final Bernanke meeting: Tuesday and Wednesday will see Ben Bernanke chairing his last Federal Reserve meeting, which is expected to further reduce quantitative easing to $65bn a month.

Chinese New Year: The markets in China are heading into their final week before the New Year holiday, which is six days long from February 1st.

Manufacturing figures: HSBC’s final reading on the Chinese manufacturing sector is due out on Thursday this week. “Official” print on China’s manufacturing is due to be published over the coming weekend.

ICB meeting: The Indian Central Bank will announce their latest rates decisions on Tuesday. Despite inflation showing signs of easing, poor economic growth means that rates are expected to stay on hold for a second consecutive meeting.
