Each week QFINANCE.com brings you five things to look out for in the week ahead. Essential news that will shape the week and help you keep ahead in the world of business and finance.

BoE projections: The Bank of England will reveal its latest projections for growth and unemployment at the quarterly Inflation Report on Wednesday. Analysts will be keeping a close eye on unemployment figures, as the 7% threshold required to unlock an interest rate rise appears to be approaching quicker than anticipated.

Eurozone report: The eurozone will report fourth quarter economic growth numbers from last year at the end of this week, offering policy makers at the European Central Bank a needed snapshot of the region's underlying strength.

Yellen’s first public comments: All eyes will be on Janet Yellen as she makes her first public comments as chairman of the Federal Reserve. Yellen will testify before the House of Representatives’ Financial Services Committee on Tuesday; and before the Senate’s Banking Committee on Thursday.

Lloyds results: Lloyds Banking Group will issue its 2013 results on Thursday. After setting aside £1.8bn to cover PPI mis-selling claims, it is expected to report a fourth consecutive year of negative earnings. Forecasts for pre-tax profit are £6.2bn.

Retail sales figures: This week will also see the publication of retail sales figures from several countries across the globe. Analysts remain pessimistic, with retail growth expected to have remained sluggish in the UK and US, and markedly decreased in South Africa.
