Augusto Lopez-Claros is an international consultant based in Geneva, Switzerland, specializing in economic, financial, and development issues. Until 2006 he was chief economist and director of the Global Competitiveness Program at the World Economic Forum in Geneva. Before joining the Forum he held senior positions at Lehman Brothers International and the International Monetary Fund in Washington. Dr Lopez-Claros has written and lectured extensively on a wide range of topics in his field and is a sought-after speaker. He has a degree in mathematical statistics from Cambridge University and a PhD in economics from Duke University.
